Not Yet, Death β€” Rasesa/Mochudi corridor β€” scouted 3 Mar 2026

πŸ“ Last Water Day locations β†’ πŸ—ΊοΈ Full combined report β†’

Overview

Not Yet, Death is a chamber piece β€” 90% takes place in one room. The location requirement is surgical: one isolated, controllable interior space with the right texture. The scouting trip found The Outpost β€” an isolated brick shed in the Rasesa bush that gives us total light control and an "otherworldly" feel.

Scene Γ— Location

NYD-1 INT. ROOM β€” NIGHT β˜…β˜…β˜…
The script needs: One room. Table, door, space for 3 actors to circle each other. Baby pictures on wall. Whiskey on table. Dim, moody, surreal-domestic. Must control ALL light β€” the entire film is night interior. This is 90% of the shoot.
best match The Outpost (Video IMG_5504)
Isolated red-brick shed with open bay, surrounded by dense bush. No grid power = zero light spill = total control for a night interior. The open bay allows stage-like rigging from outside. The weathered brick walls read as "between worlds" β€” perfect for an allegorical space where Death sits waiting. The isolation means excellent sound conditions (no traffic, no neighbours).
Build interior: Heavy wooden table (scarred, aged). 3 mismatched wooden chairs. Whiskey bottle + tumbler with amber liquid. Wall of family photos + baby picture. Edison bulb on wire (must swing in Sc.10). Haze/incense for atmosphere. Floor treatment β€” rug or packed earth over concrete.
⚑ Power: No grid power visible. Budget a 5–10kW silent generator. Verify access road β€” grip truck must reach. Sound: Cicadas/birds from dense bush may create noise floor β€” test during evening scout.
NYD-2 EXT. COFFIN / PARK SCENES β˜…β˜…β˜†
The script needs: Outdoor area for coffin scene (Sc.7). Park with bench under old tree (park scenes). Natural light, golden hour preferred. Death watches from distance.
best match Red Yard area or Osanta Complex trees
Multiple scouted locations have large mature acacia/eucalyptus trees with natural benches (rock formations). The Red Yard (Cluster 4) has a quiet domestic yard with red earth + big canopy β€” works for both coffin scene and park beats. Osanta Complex (Cluster 3) has deeper tree shade pockets. Both within walking distance of The Outpost.

Dressing: Wooden bench (bring or build). Black coffin prop (rent β€” critical). Bread crumbs for bird-feeding lady scene. ND filters or time-of-day planning for "darkening" as Death approaches.

Action Items

  1. 1
Review Video IMG_5504 (The Outpost) β€” Director + DP to approve as the primary location. If yes, send Art Dept for interior measurements + structural assessment.
  2. 2
Power assessment β€” confirm distance from nearest grid connection. Source 5–10kW silent generator. Test cable run length.
  3. 3
Access road check β€” can a grip truck + art dept van reach The Outpost? Drive it with the production vehicle before locking.
  4. 4
Evening sound test β€” visit The Outpost at the planned shoot time (night) and record 60 seconds of room tone. Check for cicadas, generator hum from neighbours, distant traffic.
  5. 5
Identify park/bench location β€” walk the Red Yard and Osanta tree areas. Find the best bench-under-tree spot with depth for Death watching from distance.
